UGA takes the lead for top DL

It was Florida and Miami on top last week, but after visiting Georgia over the weekend, one of the top defensive linemen now names the Dawgs as his leader. Abry Jones saw what he needed to see, he heard what he needed to hear, and he felt what he needed to feel in Athens on Saturday.

"The visit to Georgia went well and it was cool because I got to speak to the coaches face to face and learn more about them," said Jones. "I had been to Georgia before for a game and stuff, so I had seen a lot already, but I did not know the coaches that well."

The first coach the 6-foot-3, 255-pound DL out of Warner Robins (Ga.) talked with was the coach that visited his school and offered him last month.

"I spoke with Coach [Rodney] Garner for a while and it was cool. We did not really talk much football at all. We got to know each other better, we learned more about each other, and it was great. I really like Coach Garner. I think he is the type of guy that can be your friend, but he can also coach you well and motivate you."

I got to meet Coach Mark Richt for the first time and that was a nice experience.

"I thought going up there that he would just be one of those guys that thought he was better than everyone and things like that, but he is not that way at all."
