Robinson making recruiting waves
May 31, 2008 - Nobody in the Washington, DC/Baltimore corridor, and few nationally if any, have seen their recruitment skyrocket this spring like Thomas Robinson: The six-foot-eight inch, 210 pound, Class of 2009 forward has gone from a locally focused junior to someone presently receiving attention from Big East, ACC, SEC, Big 12, Big 10, Atlantic 10, and Colonial Athletic Association schools.
Robinson's ascension to being such a highly regarded student athlete was recently chronicled by i95Ballerz.com. Suffice to say, he's hot as fire right now, as his travel team/AAU coach, Squash All Beefs' Dwight Redd, noted scholarship offers have been received by Georgia, George Washington, Virginia, Marquette, Oklahoma and Virginia Tech. Redd, who has coached Thomas for four years and started Squash All Beefs seven years ago, also shared Boston College, North Carolina State, Minnesota, Pitt, UMASS, Drexel, Robert Morris, and George Mason have all displayed varying levels of interest.
These schools all see an aggressive, physical frontcourt player unafraid of mixing it up inside, who is also developing a perimeter shooting touch, a skill that will allow him to play small forward in college ball.
From a Georgetown perspective, Robinson has long been a known entity, having attended the school's 82-55 victory over Fordham last season: Somebody on The Hilltop showed prescience, as this obviously predated his meteoric rise to prominence.
Check out this exclusive, Robinson audio:

--Robinson on what he thought was necessary at the time to elevate his game to the Big East level. Obviously, he's been working.
--Robinson on the academic benefits afforded by Riverdale Baptist, his high school. To Thomas' credit, he has recently earned a 3.0 GPA at the school, and seems to be taking his academics seriously.
Whether he will be intently recruited by G'Town is unclear. Nevertheless, Thomas Robinson is garnering attention throughout the college basketball world; he's definitely a name to remember.
