Spring Spotlight - Shawn Williams

We hit the road daily starting in mid April through late May tracking down some of the top prospects in the country. We watched many talented athletes go through spring practice to get a better evaluation of their talent. Inside the Spring Spotlight feature you will see exclusive video, photos, player analysis, and more on the talent we see. The prospect in the spotlight this time is Shawn Williams.

Prospect: Shawn Williams

High School: Early County - Blakely, Georgia

Class: 2009

Position: Safety

Vitals: 6-1, 195-pounds, 4.5

Offers: Georgia

Favorites: Committed to Georgia

Colleges in Attendance: None

Practice Observations: Williams stood out very early down at Early County. Even in practice drills, he put fear in his teammates for his aggressive play. He displayed good footwork in coverage drills, but may need more experience in that area. He was a heat-seeking missile in team series, crushing the ball carrier on multiple plays. He was actually reprimanded by the coaches for blowing plays up too fast, which is probably due to a lack passing in the area. But his tackling skills were exciting to watch, and he did show the athleticism to become a complete safety with experience.

Who's Next? Rivals250 wide receiver Ricco Sanders out of Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes will be the next prospect featured. He is quick, elusive, and a receiver with good hands.

Spring Spotlight will run Monday through Friday through the rest of May and into the month of June. We will be a lot of top prospects in Georgia, but we will also visit Tennessee, Florida, and South Carolina as well.
