DT visits Florida, FSU
It was a big weekend for Charlotte (N.C.) Victory Christian defensive tackle Curtis Porter. The 6-foot-1, 334-pound lineman made the trek down to the Sunshine State for a pair of camps at two of college football's most prestigious programs.
Porter has received offers from both Florida and Florida State and over the weekend he had a chance to see both programs up close. What were his thoughts on the experience?
"Man, it was all wonderful," Porter recalled. "It was just a nice experience. I was at Florida for Friday Night Lights and then Saturday I was at FSU. I mean, just about everything was the same. It was just a lot of fun.
"I had a nice talk with Gary Brown. He was a nice person to talk to."
Brown is a four-star defensive tackle from Quincy (Fla.) West Gadsden and is currently committed to the Gators.
Porter said he did not feel compelled to make a commitment while at either Florida or Florida State, and he does not anticipate making a decision in the near future.
"No, I'm not sure when I'm going to (commit)," he said. "I'm still pretty open. I think I'm going to visit Rutgers, Florida, FSU and Miami. Those will probably be officials. Then I'll make my decision."
Porter is ranked as the No. 10 player in North Carolina and played for West Charlotte high school as a junior. He will suit up for Victory Christian this upcoming season. He has offers from all four of the schools he hopes to take official visits to this season.
