Davis talks in-depth about his decision
Ever since Iowa offered him a scholarship during his sophomore year, four-star wide receiver Keenan Davis has had the Hawkeyes at the top of his list. Today, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Davis decided not to wait any longer and made his verbal commitment to Kirk Ferentz and the coaching staff. Davis talks in-depth about his decision, recruiting other players, and more.
Q: It sounds like you have some news, is that right?
DAVIS: Yeah. I committed to Iowa.
Q: How did it all happen today if you can take us through it?
DAVIS: About 15 minutes ago, I called Coach Ferentz and told him the news. Then I talked to all the other coaches and they were really excited.
Q: What did you tell Coach Ferentz when you gave him the news?
DAVIS: I called him and he asked how things were, and I told him really good. Then I was like, "Well, Coach I've been thinking and I really want to commit to Iowa." Then he was real excited and I talked to all the other coaches.
Q: Coach Campbell and everybody basically?
DAVIS: Yeah. I talked to Coach Campbell and he kind of screamed. He was real excited.
Q: What were some of your main reasons for picking Iowa?
DAVIS: I really wanted to be close to home and it's 20 minutes away, so my family can come see me whenever they want. I just feel really comfortable with all of the coaches. I have a good relationship with every single one of them and I think I'll fit in on the team really well.
Q: Have you gotten pretty close to the coaches since they offered?
DAVIS: Yeah. When I was a sophomore and they offered me, I went there to visit and talked to all the coaches and we hit it off right away. Then I've just been visiting Iowa a lot, I think maybe seven times, and I really enjoy all the coaches. They're really good people.
