Opponent Preview: Texas

Every year since Mack Brown arrived in Austin, the Texas Longhorns have been a national program with national expectations. In fact the only thing not national about the Longhorns has been their recruiting, and why would they leave Texas if there is no need.

Over the years the most important question would be will they beat OU and play for a national title, which are usually tied to each other until A&M has gotten in the mix the last two years and muddled things up a bit.

However, coming into 2008 there are some legitimate concerns with several young players expected to take over key roles. Now all of these guys are talented but the experience and unknown are what has people worried.

Even still its hard to imagine the Horns falling off too much, even with some shocking scares and upsets in 2007, with so much talent available to the Longhorn staff.

They come into the season though at an unfamiliar place with many picking both OU and Texas Tech to finish ahead of the Horns in the Big 12 South and Missouri considered the second most powerful program in the Big 12.

The Bears take on the Horns November 8 in Austin, sandwiched between road contests against Texas Tech and Kansas. If you have to go to Austin that may be the time to do it.

Can the Bears pull off the upset? To find out more editor Jason Suchomel took time to sit down and answer a few questions about the upcoming season.
