Terrell close to decision following ASU visit?

One of Arizona State's top wide receiver targets is Chandler (Ariz.) Hamilton receiver Drew Terrell. If Terrell selects ASU it will be the third consecutive recruiting class in which the Sun Devils have added a Hamilton wideout, joining Kerry Taylor in 2007 and Gerell Robinson in 2008.

Terrell has previously visited Arizona State on several occasions including the Sun Devils' Junior Day. However there was something a little different this time he visited the campus.

"[My visit] went good," Terrell said. "I got to hang out with my friend Gerell Robinson. Myself, (Hamilton teammate) Ryan Milus and another friend from California got to hang out in Gerell's dorm for a few hours. Then we went down and sat in on the positional meetings and from there we went down to the Bubble for practice. The Bubble was really nice. It is definitely good for the team to be able to get out of the heat. I really liked it."

The 5-foot-10 175-pounder said he has developed a solid relationship with the ASU staff, in particular defensive line coach Grady Stretz and wide receivers coach Eric Yarber.

"I got to talk to Coach Yarber quite a bit again," Terrell said. "I also got to talk to Coach Stretz for a little bit and got to talk to Coach Erickson as well."

Terrell previously told about his relationship with Coach Yarber.

"I have talked to Coach Yarber pretty much every time I have seen him," Terrell said. "He is a real fun guy; I could really picture myself playing for him. He is real down to earth and real easy to get along with."

Terrell, who is ranked as the fifth best player in Arizona according to, has offers from Air Force, Arizona State, Northwestern, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Washington State and Wyoming. He recently picked up his ninth offer.

"UTEP offered me," Terrell said. "Stanford and ASU are still pretty much my top two. I haven't setup any of my official visits. I am not even sure if it is going to come to that. I have already visited both of the schools that I am mainly interested in. I do still want to learn more about the other schools that have offered me."

The talented wide receiver said he could be close to making a commitment.

"I probably won't wait until the end of the season," Terrell said. "It could possibly be before the season even starts."

Hamilton is in its third week of practice and is preparing for a nationally televised opening game on the road at Miami (Fla.) Booker T Washington later this month.

"We know that [Booker T Washington] is very athletic and very fast," Terrell said. "I don't think that it is anything that we can't handle. I think that we are just as athletic as they are. So I think we match up well against them and it will be about who wants it more. I think our team is hungrier than last season. We are coming together really well. Everyone is one the same page. We will do real well this season."
