Elliott living up to the hype

After a year of waiting, Bulldog fans will finally get an opportunity to see highly touted recruit Robert Elliott on the field this season.

The redshirt freshman running back has impressed the coaching staff and despite being behind Anthony Dixon and Christian Ducre on the depth chart should have plenty of opportunities.

"I think Elliott is getting better everyday," said running backs coach Rockey Felker. "He had a good scrimmage Saturday and had a good week of practice. We're going to keep working with him and hopefully we will see some improvement in his blocking and his assignments. He's getting more consistent and that's what we need. He's a talented guy with the ball in his arm."

Elliott rushed for 50 yards on a dozen carries in the team's first scrimmage on Saturday. But Elliott was not satisfied with just his numbers. He realized he made some blocking mistakes that could be critical in games and is working to correct them.

"I can't really say I was pleased," Elliott said. "But I wasn't unhappy either. I think I ran the ball pretty well but I also missed some blitzes."
