Talented 2010 DB picks up third offer
Stanford University recently picked up a four-star commitment out of Georgia in Henry County wide receiver Jamal Patterson. Patterson's commitment added to a growing list of high profile prospects that are jumping on the Stanford bandwagon. But even as the 2009 class is growing and building, work on the class of 2010 has already begun and the Cardinal is going after some elite names in 2010 as well.
Sunday, 2010 standout defensive back Adrian White of DeSoto, Texas picked up his third verbal offer and it came from Jim Harbaugh and Stanford.
"Stanford offered," White said on Monday evening. "My coach called my dad and then he called me to tell me about it. I know they have a new coach in Jim Harbaugh. It's a good academic school so I'll definitely be considering them."
Stanford adds to White's offer list that already contains the big names of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. White will be taking things slow though and watching all of his options come in over the next year.
"I consider all of them," he said. "I'm taking it as it comes. I want to see all of my options."
Official offers begin getting handed out on Sept. 1 and White thinks that there are a few different schools that he may be hearing from along with the three verbal offers he already has. He also has a few schools that he hopes will extend him offers.
"I believe Florida State will come around and maybe Oregon," he said. "I'm hoping Texas will offer and Texas Tech. They're schools that I'd be really excited to get an offer from."
More pressing on White's mind these days is his quickly approaching junior season which he has been preparing for all summer. A new coaching staff has inherited the talented DeSoto team and has been working the group hard in the preseason.
"There's been a lot of running and a lot of conditioning. It's been kind of intense. We like it. Everybody is fired up."
