Verner takes it house bound

The lone return starter for the Bruins in the secondary is Alterraun Verner. The talented junior has been making plays for UCLA the moment he stepped on campus three years ago and he's going to be called upon to make big plays for the Bruins starting on Monday against Tennessee.

Verner had an outstanding camp and at one time there was a joke circulating that he has seen the end zone more than any other Bruin during training camp due to his pick for six specialties that Bruin fans have become accustomed to since his arrival.

BruinBlitz.com was able to get a few moments with Verner after a recent practice.

BruinBlitz.com: At time during training camp it seemed like you were the receiver, you had so many picks, how many did you have?

Verner: "I probably had seven or eight."

BruinBlitz.com: How many did you bring back to the house?

Verner: "I think I had three of those to the house, because I think one time I was tagged so I'm not too sure about that, but I think about three."

BruinBlitz.com:How do you think the defense performed during camp?

Verner: "I think it went well. I think the younger players that didn't know too much, I thought they picked up on things real fast and especially from the secondary's perspective.

"Rahim Moore has been picking it up slowly, but surely so I have been very pleased with him. As a whole I think we came out healthy, nobody had any serious injuries, which is a plus. I think we are beginning to gel as a group and are starting to build more trust within each other and I think had a very productive camp and now we have to focus on Tennessee."
