Wayne Moses and the four freshmen
One of the keys for a successful UCLA season will be if they can run the football. One thing that is for sure, the Bruins have a boatload of young talent at the running back position. After a recent practice, BruinBlitz.com had a moment to talk to UCLA running backs coach Wayne Moses to talk about his true freshman class, plus how senior Kahlil Bell faired through camp as he gets ready for the opener.
BruinBlitz.com: Can you give us a rundown on how Kahlil Bell has been performing?
Moses: "Kahlil had a very nice camp. He hadn't had any issues with the knee injury. He had a little bit of a hip flexor that more or less than the knee, but he's had a good camp. The knee is healthy and right now he's running, cutting and slashing and we're very excited about what we see so far in Kahlil.
BruinBlitz.com: It seems that the four freshmen that are pretty talented kids in Aundre Dean, Johnathan Franklin and Milton Knox with the fourth being Derrick Coleman getting hurt in camp that will put him behind the others, can you give me a rundown on them?
Moses: "The unique thing about those guys is not only are they all very talented, but they are all different and that's what makes them so exciting. You don't have a carbon copy of anybody. From one to four they are different. When one goes out the whole style changes. What they bring to the table is some talent, but also bring some difference.
