Ducre not your ordinary back-up

Christian Ducre knows he is more than just a run of the mill reserve running back.
In fact, Ducre feels as if he is the perfect compliment to Anthony Dixon in Mississippi State's rushing attack. The tandem provides the Bulldogs with one of the best 1-2 punches in the Southeastern Conference.

"Really we're pretty much the same type of back," Ducre said. "We're both power backs. Whenever he gets tired I go in and whenever I get tired he goes in. I really think we are a perfect complement for each other."

The backfield duo accounted for 1,553 yards and 17 touchdowns last season. Ducre played in all 13 games in 2007 making three starts. He ran for 487 yards and three touchdowns last year but got off to a slow start with only three carries for 12 yards against Louisiana Tech.

The 6-0, 222-pounder said their entire rushing attack was slowed when the Bulldogs were forced to put the ball in the air early on Saturday.

"We kind of got thrown off our game plan early," Ducre said. "We had to throw the ball a little bit more. AD (Dixon) even got limited carries. He got 18 but he usually gets more than that. I usually get around 10-15. You've just got to do what you've got to do whenever you get the ball."
