2010 Maryland LB has BC offer
Frederick (Md.) Thomas Johnson linebacker Nick Forbes is undoubtedly one of his state's top prospects from the Class of 2010, and his three early offers is evidence of that. What does the 6-foot, 217-pound prospect think of the Eagles?
Forbes gets it done on both sides of the ball for Thomas Jefferson, though his squad isn't off to the kind of start he anticipated.
"Our season is going alright so far," Forbes said. "We've had a rough start but it will be alright. We're 2-2 so far.
"Offensively I've been able to move the ball pretty well, but defensively I need to pick it up a little bit. They use me as a tailback on offense and I think I have six touchdowns, and I play linebacker on defense. Most schools will probably be recruiting me for defense.
"I'd say I'm best at taking on blockers and clogging up holes inside."
Forbes has received mail from the likes of Boston College, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, West Virginia, Colorado, Illinois, Georgia, NC State, Michigan State, Wake Forest and others. Notre Dame recently sent a coach to the school to monitor Forbes.
"As of September I've had offers from Maryland, Boston College and West Virginia," he said. "I wouldn't say I have a favorite."
What does he think of Boston College?
"Well, they visited our school last year. I know Joe Haden's son Josh got a scholarship from there. Through his word and Boston College's recruiting coach I've heard good things. I know they've seen my highlight tape.
"I haven't had a chance to go up there for a visit. They've invited me to some of their games, so I think I'm going to go up there for one at the end of the year.
"I'm also trying to go to a Virginia Tech game, and I want to visit Wake Forest."
