Ikard Makes the Call

Just a few short years ago it seemed that playing tight end at Oklahoma was a job of servitude to the powerful Sooner ground game. However, in the past two seasons perhaps no tight end in the country has been more productive than Sooner All-American candidate Jermaine Gresham.

Perhaps no player has had more opportunities to notice Gresham's performances than Oklahoma City Bishop McGuinness tight end Gabe Ikard and perhaps that's why Ikard's long-awaited decision is awaited no more.

"It's the perfect time to play tight end at Oklahoma. I mean there are two, three, or even four tight ends in some sets," Ikard said. "After talking to coach Kevin Wilson, I just felt right about committing to Oklahoma."

Ikard has talked about many coaches saying they can always use guys who are big and can run but the time that Wilson took to itemize to the state of Oklahoma's top-rated tight end was perhaps what pushed the Sooners over the top.
