Abry Jones: A Very Talented Dawg

Abry Jones started making a name for himself early in the 2007 season. He lined up at defensive end for the Northside Warner Robins Eagles and he was wrecking havoc in backfields week after week. Late in the season, Florida offered, then Miami offered, and he quickly became a wanted man.

UGA evaluated him, then offered him early in 2009 and he became a Bulldog early in the spring. The future Dawg has continued his dominance in 2008 and he hopes to carry that to Athens.

The 6-foot-3, 273 pound defensive lineman has racked up double-digit sacks in over half of his games this year including a couple three sack nights. He doesn't get one on one opportunities much anymore, but he still finds a way to make plays.

"I am just using my technique and trying to get off my blocks quickly so teams don't have time to double and triple-team me," said Jones. "I just work hard, play hard, and use a lot of technique."

The Eagles fell to Lowndes earlier this season and that halted their 35 game winning streak. They are now 8-1 as they enter the final regular season game Friday night when they travel to Colquitt County.

Jones has helped Northside to back to back 4A state titles, but they moved up to 5A this year. They are in the toughest region in the state and they are in the biggest classification now, but that does not change his outlook.
