December 14, 2008's Overtime: Game 9

Bob Huggins and Duquesne's Ron Everhart are fast friends, as much for their roots as for what the West Virginia coach has meant to his younger adversary. Huggins was born in Morgantown; Everhart hails from Fairmont.

Everhart first met Huggins when Huggs was a player at West Virginia and Everhart was in junior high.

"I remember rebounding for him in the gym. I have a lot of admiration and respect for Huggs. He was one of those older guys who looked out for you and kind of took you under his wing, and you remember that," said the DU coach.

Even so, their 30-year relationship obviously wouldn't thwart Huggins' aim to beat Everhart and his Dukes. The same applies, of course.
