Three-star back says CSU on top

The combination of a big game by the current running back at Colorado State and a visit that didn't go as well as planned to Houston University has put the Rams on top in the sweepstakes to land the three-star running back from Conroe, Tex - Lou Greenwood

During the regular season, the 6-foot-1, 174-pound ran for 717 yards and 11 touchdowns on a Conroe Tiger team that ran for over 2,000 yards. As a junior Greenwood ran for 812 yards and 13 touchdowns, collecting seven yards per carry. He made the rivals.com top 100 for the state of Texas this season, coming in at number 78 and was amongst the top 50 ballcarriers in the Lone Star State.

Last weekend Greenwood was at Houston where he enjoyed his time, but didn't like the fact there was not a scholarship offer waiting for him at the start of next season.

"I just I went to Houston this weekend," Greenwood said Monday. "It was cool, I liked it. Right now I really don't know my status with them because they want me to grayshirt and I ain't down with that."

Greenwood added that if Houston doesn't come through with an offer, he may end up in Fort Collins.

"If they don't come through again, I am just going to sign with Colorado State," Greenwood said.

The Lone Star scatback said he is talking to Colorado State defensive line coach and recruiting coach Scott Brown on a weekly basis and does have a scholarship offer from the Rams. Thanks to his interest in Colorado State, he said he was watching the Rams' 40-35 win over Fresno State in the New Mexico Bowl on Saturday. During the game, Ram tailback Gartrell Johnson ran for 289 yards and caught passes for another 90 yards.

"He ran like a fool. It makes me want to go there," Greenwood said of the performance.

Greenwood said he has three visits left but isn't sure if he is going to take any or all of them. Greenwood has scholarship offers from Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Houston, Ole Miss, Baylor, Colorado State and Syracuse.
