Freeman sets officials
With Signing Day only a few weeks away, college coaches are still looking to hear from a handful of top-tier prospects expected to make their college decisions before Feb. 4.
Chris Freeman, a 6-foot-7, 325-pound offensive tackle is one of the few remaining high-profile prospects yet make his decision.
Thursday night, BadgerBlitz.com caught with the Trotwood (Ohio) prospect to discuss his recruitment and his official visit dates.
"Not a whole lot has changed this the last time we spoke. Really the only thing that has happened is that I've finally got my official visits lined up," Freeman said. "I'll be leaving for Colorado tomorrow. Then, I'll be in Madison on the weekend of Jan. 23. Finally, I'll visit Tennessee on the weekend of Jan. 30."
After narrowing his list down to three schools, Freeman has no current leader and is expecting to enjoy all three official visits before deciding.
"I'm just really excited to get out and see those three schools," said Freeman, who noted in a previous interview with this site he would room for childhood friend Jeff Duckworth if he selected UW. "I've been to Wisconsin on an unofficial with some of my friends. But I'm really excited to check out Colorado and Tennessee. I want to see what those programs have to offer."
One school that made a late push to land the talented prospect is Colorado. Running backs coach Darian Hagan has led the recruiting charge for the Buffs.
"I've developed a good relationship with all of my recruiting coaches," said Freeman, whose Badger recruiting coach is Joe Rudolph. "I'd say I get along exceptionally well Coach Hagan from Colorado."
Wisconsin currently has 19 known verbal commitments in its 2009 class. UW also has four prospects from the Ohio area: Duckworth, Chris Borland, Pat Muldoon and Brian Wozniak.
