One of Mississippi State's most memorable games last season came in an overtime thriller at Vanderbilt.
But in the end it was the Commodores, led by 42 points by Shan Foster, who emerged victorious 86-85. Now MSU will look to return the favor when the two teams meet tonight at Humphrey Coliseum at 7 p.m. on Fox Sports South.
Tonight will mark the 114th meeting between the two schools on the hardwood with Vandy holding an overwhelming 71-42 series lead. The Bulldogs have won six of the last 10 meetings and have not dropped a contest to Vanderbilt in Starkville since 1993. Rick Stansbury is 8-5 all-time against the Commodores.
State comes into this game riding a four-game winning streak with a 12-5 record and a perfect 2-0 slate in the Southeastern Conference. The Bulldogs are averaging 75.8 points per game and shooting 46.6-percent. They have hit 38-percent of their 3-point attempts as well as 68.9-percent from the charity stripe. Mississippi State outrebounds their opponents by a margin of 1.8 per game and allows only 64.7 points.
