Aggies pushing into Louisiana again
When Texas A&M was at their peak, they routinely brought in players from neighboring Louisiana that made big impacts on the field in College Station. They restarted that trend in the 2009 class, signing three players, two that were four-star prospects, from the Pelican State. It is something that does not appear limited to 2009, though.
The Aggies have offered a few Louisiana prospects in the class of 2010 with another one going out on Tuesday. New Orleans Isidore Newman athlete Ronnie Vinson was the latest player to receive an A&M offer. With previous ones from Ole Miss, Tulane and Louisiana Tech, Vinson also received one from another SEC school recently.
"They sent it to my coach today and my coach gave it to me," the 5-foot-11, 190-pound Vinson said about his A&M offer on Tuesday evening. "I've also been offered recently by the University of Kentucky."
Vinson has become familiar with A&M in recent weeks, having spoken to Aggie head coach Mike Sherman several times on the phone.
"I've never been there, but I've seen a lot of games on TV," he said. "It's a great atmosphere.
"I'm definitely interested in Texas A&M.
