Spring position preview: Linebackers

Warchant.com is getting its subscribers ready for the start of Florida State's 2009 Spring Practice with updates and previews on each position. The Seminole football team will take to the practice fields for the first time the week of March 2nd.

The position coach: Chuck Amato, entering 21st season at Florida State and his third year in a second stint.



Frontrunners:


Dekoda Watson


Class for 2009 season: Senior / Size: 6-2, 221 pounds.

2008 season: Arguably the top returning defensive playmaker, he made 7 starts at weak side linebacker and played in 10 games through an injury-marred campaign. Finished with 46 tackles (8 tfls) to go along with 3 pass break-ups, an interception, a 51-yard TD return with a fumble and a blocked kick. Expected to return to strong side position after recovering from elbow surgery that will sideline him for the spring.
