Athletic lineman holds three offers
At 6-foot-5 and around 270 pounds, Woodstock (Ga.) Etowah offensive tackle Reid Webster is an athletic lineman who has a lot of upside. Throughout the spring, several colleges have begun to recognize that upside and that has earned him three offers already.
"I have an offer from UCF, UAB and Buffalo," Webster said. "UCF offered back in late February and the other two offers came in three weeks ago or so."
Currently, Webster is busy with spring football where he hopes to not only get better with his team but also continue to impress college coaches. Several other schools have shown signs of interest to this point.
"Oklahoma State has been talking to me a lot," he said. "Georgia was at school last week and South Carolina, Georgia Tech and NC State. I kind of hope Clemson offers out of all of those. I liked Clemson growing up but if they don't offer it's not a huge deal."
During the spring, Webster has had the chance to visit the campuses of Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, UCF and Clemson. He also plans on returning to UCF this summer.
"I know we're going to UCF as a team and I figured I'll probably do two or three other camps this summer," he said.
Due to his athleticism, Webster also stars on the basketball court but came away from the hardwood weighing only 250 pounds. He has since worked to get his football weight back and now he is focused on preparing for the fall.
"I was playing basketball in the winter but since then I've just been trying to gain weight and get bigger, stronger and faster," he said. "Right now I'm between 270 and 275 pounds the past couple of weeks so I'm happy right there."
