Spring Tour: Boyd Anderson

Our most recent stop on our spring tour brought us to Boyd Anderson High School. The always athletic Cobra's will be on of Broward County's top teams this fall. We highlight some of the prospects to catch our eye.

Cliff Coleman - cornerback - 5 foot 10, 170-pounds

Coleman has good size, moves well, and has long arms. Those long arms allow him to play bigger than his 5-foot-10 height. On a day where Coleman was not test much, he did come away with a pair of pass break ups. He also excels as a return man. Coleman claims offers from Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, and South Carolina. Rumors around Boyd Anderson are that the Seminoles are the team to beat right now.

Steven Green - wide receiver - 5 foot 9, 160-pounds

Green is an extremely quick and great in open space. Boyd Anderson gets the ball in Green's hands a variety of ways. His highlight of the day came on a wheel route out of the backfield where he blew past the defense for a wide open touchdown.

Marcus Thompson - running back- 6 foot 1, 220-pounds

Thompson is a very physically impressive looking prospect. His big body and quick feet make him a dangerous back. Thompson also worked some at inside linebacker showing good mobility. He has a physical style and never seems to tire.

Linval Williams - defensive end - 6 foot 3, 230-pounds

Williams is a prospect to watch this coming fall. A productive season will go a long way in his recruitment. Williams could bulk up in a college weight program and move to defensive tackle.

Matthew Grant - defensive end - 6 foot 3, 226-pounds
The athletic Grant lined up at tight and defensive end. He showed good burst coming off the edge in pass rush situations.

One to watch in the class of 2011:

Jesse York - wide receiver - 5 foot 11, 170-pounds
York was the surprise of the Boyd Anderson practice. He displayed good speed, excellent body control, and a nice pair of hands. York did a good job getting behind the defense and was lethal on corner routes inside the red zone. York caught one beautiful over the shoulder touchdown pass. He was open for another but the pass was severely under thrown.

Still not back yet.

Demar Dorsey competed in the state track meet this past weekend in Orlando, and did not attend practice Monday. Dorsey is a Florida Gator commit, but there are signs he will open up his recruitment soon.

Boyd Anderson takes on Pahokee in their spring game May 29th at Lockhart Stadium.
