Leifheit still looking

Wilmington (NC) Hoggard four-star offensive tackle T.J. Leifheit is one of the top linemen in the Southeast and claims around thirty offers to his credit.

Leifheit expects a visitor from the Midwest soon.

"Ohio State is supposed to be coming to my school soon," he said.

Florida was scheduled to visit Hoggard on Friday and Leifheit told GamecockCentral.com that he hoped the Gators would offer.

He has taken several visits already.

"I've visited a bunch of them," he said. "South Carolina, North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest, NC State, Florida State, Tennessee, and Southern Cal."

Did one of the trips stand out to the huge lineman?

"I don't really have a favorite from those because they were all unique in their own way," he remarked.

Leifheit told GamecockCentral.com about his earlier trip to Columbia.

"It was last summer," he said. "I was down for a camp. I did the campus tour and checked out their facilities. I can't remember much, it was about a year ago."

Coach Brad Lawing is recruiting Leifheit for Carolina, and the 300-plus pounder is impressed with him.

"I saw Coach Lawing at my school," he said. "I talked to him last summer and he was real intense."

Leifheit has an idea of what he will be looking for at the next level.

"The thing for me will be academics because you never know when your last play will be," he said. "I like a good honest coach that likes to interact with his guys, develop relationships with them and be a good teacher."

What are South Carolina's chances with the big man?

"I don't know yet," he said. "I would like to talk with their o-line coach. I'm still looking."

A decision later this year is planned.

"I'd like to make my decision in October," he said. "I'm going to narrow it down during the summer but I'm not sure to what number right now."
