Stone Mountain LB has Tech high on his list

Stone Mountain outside linebacker Tyrone Cornileus has offers from most of the top football programs in the Southeast and one of the places he will be visiting this summer is Georgia Tech. Jacketsonline caught up with Stephenson High School star to find out how his recruiting is going.

Who are the schools that have offered you?

Tennessee, West Virginia, Mississippi State, Maryland, East Carolina, North Carolina, Miami, Georgia Tech, Auburn, South Carolina, Boston College, Ole Miss and that's all I can think of right now.

What are your plans for the summer?

I plan on going to camps at Miami, Florida, Georgia Tech, and I will also be visiting some other schools. My team is going to some college camps as a team this summer also.

How has your spring gone so far?

It went really well. There were tremendous amount of schools that came out to watch us. I think my coach said 80 schools came out to practice.

Do you have any top schools right now on your list?

All the schools are coming at me equally. They are all about even right now.

What are your thoughts on the Georgia Tech program?

Coach Brian Jean-Mary and I have a very good relationship. He is a real cool coach and a good guy. We have talked a lot this spring. I love the coaching staff, they are all bonded together and are on the same page and I like that a lot. They did a good job last year with the team and I cannot wait to see what they do this year.

Did you have a favorite team or school growing up?

Growing up it was probably the University of Florida because it was a family link thing. I also followed Georgia Tech and Miami. I have wanting to go to Georgia Tech for a while now because of the Engineering program. Georgia Tech will be there until the end, it will be a really close decision.

What is the most important thing you look for in a school?

Mostly it is the academics. Right now, it is between Mechanical Engineering and Forensic Sciences as to what I want to major in when I get to school. Next to that is the atmosphere of the school and the environment. A good coaching staff and how the coaching staff treats the players are two things that are very important to me. I want to play somewhere where I feel loved.

Do you have a timeframe for a commitment or narrowing down your list?

I want to make a commitment before my third game of my senior season and I think I will narrow my list to three by mid-summer. I am thinking about graduating early so I can get a head start at the school I choose.
