Jackets host important camp Saturday

Saturday could be a big day for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football program. Almost every one of the Yellow Jackets' top targets for the 2010 recruiting class will be hitting the practice fields in the afternoon.

One of the bigger areas of competition will be at quarterback where Gabriel Henderson from North Carolina and Ryan White from Florida are battling for an offer from the Georgia Tech coaching staff. Henderson and White have both been very high on the Yellow Jackets. Henderson told Jacketsonline earlier this month that he planned to make a decision by the end of the month. Synjyn Days, Santez Emory, and Douglas Goins are three other quarterbacks who will be at the camp and could get an offer with an impressive performance Saturday.

Several other quarterbacks including Lamar Ivey, Desi Brown, and Wynton Perro visited Georgia Tech earlier this week, but none got an offer. If White or Henderson impressed the coaching staff enough on Saturday, an offer could be made during the camp.

A pair of front seven defensive players are also key targets that will be at the camp on Saturday. Defensive end Anthony Williams from Union Grove was not pleased earlier in the week when Woodward Academy defensive end Henry Anderson was offered by the Yellow Jackets. Williams has been a Georgia Tech lean for some time he could make a decision very soon which may favor the Jackets.

The other front seven defensive player is Tyrone Cornileus from Stephenson High School. Cornileus has been favoring Georgia Tech and Miami during his recruiting process.

Among the most interesting visitors will be South Paulding cornerback Ryan Ayers. Ayers, a four-star corner has been a Georgia Tech lean for a while and the recent commitment of fellow corner Barry Bostic leaves only one cornerback slot for the 2010 class.

Ayers and Darius Robinson are top targets are cornerback for the Yellow Jackets, but Robinson will not be at the camp.

Safety Isaiah Johnson is another top target who is close to making a decision. The Sandy Creek High School safety has had Georgia Tech at the top of his list for some time and he would join the already committed Fred Holton.

Back on the offensive side of the ball Catlin Alford has been waiting on an offer from the Yellow Jackets. Alford could commit quickly because he only is planning to visit one other school, NC State this summer.

"Right now I am going to Georgia Tech for the junior/senior camp and I am hoping they will offer me there," Alford said earlier in the week. "Tech's at the top of my list and I am just hoping to get that offer."

Alford could have competition from Loganville's Morgan Bailey. It is uncertain how many offensive linemen the Yellow Jackets will take and Bailey already has an offer in hand. If Bailey commits Alford may not get an offer.

Stay tuned to Jacketsonline for full camp coverage all day on Saturday.
