Countdown to kickoff: #81 Aaron Hernandez
Player/Hometown/High School: Aaron Hernandez Bristol (Conn.) Central
Hgt/Wgt: 6-foot-3, 255-lb
Position: Tight end
Year: JR
Fall Depth Chart Projection: 1st team tight end
Spring Review: It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that for the most part, especially after David Nelson went down, Hernandez was the go-to guy this past spring. Unlike past practices, he was about as sure-handed as any pass-catcher on the team.
Fall Projection: If he stays healthy, he's a very good bet to lead the team in receptions and maybe even touchdowns this season. The Gators don't utilize him as a traditional tight end, meaning he doesn't just block and catching short passes over the middle. If healthy, he should have the type of season which would warrant consideration for early entry to the NFL.
Others who wore the number: Dallas Baker (2002-06), Ronald Dowdy (2000-01), Nick Schiralli (1997-99), Jamie Richardson (1995), Travis McGriff (1994), Monty Duncan (1990-92), Geoff Pappas (1988), Clifton Reynolds (1986, 1987), Bob Hoffman (1985), Mark McGriff (1984), Randy Clark (1982-83), Bill Allen (1980), Juan Collins (1978-79), Hank Foldberg (1971-73), Jan Gowland (1970), Britt Skrivanek (1968), Rex Rittgers (1967) and Gary Thomas (1963-65)
