Olaniyan talks camp, narrowing list
During Michigan State's one-day camp last Friday, the Spartans had an opportunity to work out many of the state's top prospects, including four-star defensive end C.J. Olaniyan of Warren Mott.
According to SpartanMag.com, Olaniyan (6-5, 230) ranks as the second best player in the state behind another four-star defensive end prospect, Detroit Southeastern's William Gholston, who verbally committed to the Spartans earlier this week.
SpartanMag.com caught up with Olaniyan Thursday night and he talked about his camp experience in East Lansing.
"It was good. I had a chance to work with Coach (Ted) Gill a little bit," Olaniyan said. "We did a couple drills and stuff, and we had a chance to work with the offensive linemen one-on-one."
"In individual drills I felt like I did very good. I ran a good 40 (yard dash), got a nice vertical, did the broad jump, did everything good," Olaniyan added. "For the 40-yard dash I ran a 4.63 (seconds); the vertical 32 (inches); the broad 9.7 (feet)."
Olaniyan also indicated that the time spent with Coach Gill allowed him to refine areas of his game.
"(Gill) helped me improve my stance a little bit, how I come up to the line, and he showed me a couple ways I can use my hands in pass-rush moves," Olaniyan said.
