Ohio OL high on Spartans

No question about it, Skyler Schofner is impressed with the Michigan State coaching staff and what the Spartans have to offer.

Despite never setting foot on the MSU campus, the 6-7, 276-pounder from Sunbury (Ohio) Big Walnut holds the Spartans in very high regard after several conversations with the staff to this point in his recruitment.

"Right now me and the Michigan State coaching staff are real great. I like what I see so far. The coaching staff keeps talking to me and they make it sound like it's awesome up there," the three-star rated Schofner told SpartanMag.com earlier this week. "I'm excited to get up there and see it for myself; the campus, atmosphere, the game days and everything. So I'm really excited (about MSU) and they look pretty good in my eyes right now."

Schofner hasn't set a date to visit the Spartans, or any other schools, as he's currently focused on his season ahead and not rushing his recruitment.

"I haven't been to any camps. I'm doing high school lifting and I'm taking day by day just working and lifting with the team right now," he said.

Though Schofner isn't looking to end his recruitment anytime soon, he has started to whittle down his list of suitors, saying "some of my bigger offers" stand out. He listed North Carolina, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Purdue and South Carolina as his "big offers," adding that he would like to visit the aforementioned list of schools at some point.

Schofner estimated he has about 20 offers, and more could be on the way. He said schools such as Ohio State, UCLA and West Virginia have been picking up interest and seem to be on the verge of offering.
