|Spring Review: As we reported in the 4/6 Insider Practice Report, Spikes seemed to take more of a backseat approach over the spring as he stepped aside and allowed younger, less experienced players to take center stage. Spikes, who certainly had nothing to prove, would come in for a few plays and then head to the sidelines and watch. Of course he made a statement here and there with his play during practice, but it was mostly a quiet spring for the senior middle linebacker. |
Don't expect the quite and unassuming nature Spikes displayed over the spring to carry over to this fall. As we saw at the start of spring ball, he's put on some weight, but still carries it very well. It goes without saying that he should be the centerpiece for one of the, if not the, top defenses in the nation.
