Bulldogs give better effort on Thursday

It was a quick turnaround for Mississippi State as they went through a two and a half hour practice session this morning.

The Bulldogs were out in shells and shoulder pads for the second day and head coach Dan Mullen came away much more pleased with the effort than he was Wednesday afternoon.

"I think they came out better than yesterday," Mullen said. "I think it was their first day in pads and they weren't used to being in pads a little bit. (Today) was back to what we expect our normal practices to look like."

Thursday marked MSU's fourth practice of the fall and each day the players have been introduced to new plays and schemes in order to put in the new offensive, defensive and special teams philosophies.

"It's all still instillation," Mullen said. "Today was all new stuff from yesterday. Tomorrow will be all new stuff from today. That first week is a lot of instillation then you go back and clean it up afterwards."

With the execution is still sometimes sketchy, Mullen is pleased with the way his team is going about things. He feels that is a sign in the right direction and it will makes things easier correct execution details rather than hustle.
