Clayborn likes what he sees from the defense

As a returning starter upfront, Adrian Clayborn has taken on more of a leadership role on the defense this year during camp. So far, he says he likes what he has seen from this year's group as they have been aggressive and making plays all over the field. Clayborn talks about Saturday's scrimmage, Christian Ballard moving down to defensive tackle, the younger players coming up behind him, and much more.

Q: It seemed like the defensive line didn't allow many passes to get off today. Is that pretty consistent with what you guys are doing so far in practice?

CLAYBORN: Yeah. With Coach K, we try to preach come across and be tough. Technique, you might mess up on, but if you just come across and be tough, he can fix the rest.

Q: What's it like having Ballard inside now?

CLAYBORN: It's not permanent. We're just looking at different stuff, trying to be flexible or whatever. But him in there is good. He's working hard and he can play both.

Q: You were dinged up a little bit earlier. Were you feeling alright out there today?

CLAYBORN: Oh, I'm feeling great.

Q: What's your reaction to the turf from the defensive side?

CLAYBORN: Oh, it's hot. This turf is really hot. It's going to take a little getting used to, but I like it. I like it a lot.
