Bulldogs begin week three
Mississippi State will begin their third week of practice tonight with a late evening session after taking the past two days off.
The Bulldogs wrapped up two-a-days on Saturday and will return to their normal practice fields after returning to classes on Monday and Tuesday.
Head coach Dan Mullen expects the practices from this point on to be about fine-tuning the schemes that were installed during the first two weeks.
"Hopefully we are a little more advanced than teaching right now," Mullen said. "Coming out of training camp it's more, instead of instillation, polishing going on. We are not adding new things. What we are doing now is cleaning up what we have."
Mullen's coaching staff has spent the past two days in meetings deciding on a playbook and which personnel they would use in certain packages based on their performance to this point.
"We just got a lot of things organized," Mullen said. "We went through and cleaned up a lot of things offensively to make sure everything is called the right way in the right personnel groups and getting the ball to the right players. We kept the plays that we thought would be best for our personnel."
Mullen gave the team Sunday and Monday off as the Bulldogs returned to the classroom for the first time this fall.
