Franklin ready to step up

Bruin redshirt freshman running back Johnathan Franklinwill be making this third collegiate start tonight when the Bruins take on the Wildcats of Kansas State. There aren't many who can claim that they scored a touchdown their first run from scrimmage, but that's what Franklin did, who showed Bruin fans why his nickname is "Jet Ski" as he ran 13 yards untouched into the end zone against San Diego State.

"It felt good," Franklin said regarding his first colligate carry. "It is something I have been dreaming of ever since I arrived here to UCLA. I'm very happy and you can't ask for anything more than to score a touchdown on your first carry. I just very happy and give praise to God."

Franklin described his first run from scrimmage.

"The play was designed to go through the A gap and I saw Kai Maiava and Eddie Williams pancake the tackle and I just cut it back left and I just went into the end zone," Franklin said. "The feeling of scoring that touchdown is indescribable. I was like a baby going into the candy store.
