Ducks close to setting up JUCO visit
The Oregon Ducks are no strangers to top-tier junior college talent and once again Oregon is making moves to land impact players for the coming years. The Ducks have been warming up to one of the top offensive line prospects from the Northern California ranks and a visit is in the works.
San Francisco (Calif.) City College of San Francisco is loaded on the offensive line and the best of all of them may be guard Ryan Clanton. Clanton can any position on the line and says Oregon is trying to set up a visit.
"I am getting my official visit set up for Oregon," Clanton said. "They have talked about November 28. They wanted to set it up for my bye week but they are on the road at UCLA. We should have something set up soon."
Clanton says one other program has been ringing his phone off the hook.
"Syracuse calls me almost every night," Clanton said. "I have got a teammate over there (John Mark Henderson) and he says good things about the program."
Clanton is 6-foot-4, 305 pounds started as a freshman for the perennial power CCSF. He graduated from Bakersfield Christian High School in 2008 and was being recruited by Fresno State before failing qualify academically. Clanton says he may end up being a qualifier once a program petitions his case.
"I wasn't a qualifier at the time, but I could be if a school petitions my status," Clanton said in May.
Clanton says a visit to Oregon seems imminent.
