Meyer: Latest on top unsigned players

MORE: Early signing period conference breakdown | Late additions boost Tigers, Vols in rankings

The early signing period has come and gone, and - as always - there were a few surprises.

Despite the recent signings and some standing commitments, there are still several high-profile players who have decided to wait until the late signing period to make their college choices.

In fact, the No. 1 player in the country - point guard Brandon Knight - is still on the board.

Rivals.com national basketball recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer takes a look at the top 10 uncommitted players in the 2010 Rivals150 and some of the schools that hope to land them in the spring period.

TOP 10 UNCOMMITTED
Brandon Knight, 6-3/185, PG, Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Pine Crest
Knight Highlights
RANK: No. 1 overall
SCHOOLS IN PLAY: Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky, Florida, Miami and Syracuse
BUZZ: Knight has already officially visited Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky and Florida, but Miami is also considered a legitimate contender because of its proximity to Knight's home. A late decision is expected.
Josh Selby, 6-2/183, PG, Baltimore Lake Clifton
Selby Highlights
RANK: No. 4
SCHOOLS IN PLAY: Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Miami and Syracuse
BUZZ: Selby's decision is likely to come after the basketball season. He has unofficially visited Indiana and Kansas and is expected to visit the other three schools on his list during the basketball season.
Cory Joseph, 6-3/180, PG, Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep
Joseph Highlights
RANK: No. 7
SCHOOLS IN PLAY: Connecticut, Minnesota, Texas, UNLV and Villanova
BUZZ: The native of Canada has a brother, Devoe Joseph, on the Minnesota squad. Cory Joseph has visited the Golden Gophers along with Connecticut, Texas and Villanova. UNLV will host Joseph on a visit the weekend of Dec. 12.
Terrence Jones, 6-8/220, PF, Portland (Ore.) Jefferson
Jones Highlights
RANK: No. 13
SCHOOLS IN PLAY: Kentucky, Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA and Washington
BUZZ: Jones officially visited all five schools on his list but could not settle on a decision before the end of the early signing period. He is considered a lean to stay on the West Coast, but Kentucky is also in serious contention.
C.J. Leslie, 6-8/205, PF, Raleigh (N.C.) Word of God Christian Academy
Leslie Highlights
RANK: No. 14
SCHOOLS IN PLAY: Florida, Kentucky, N.C. State, Oregon, Maryland and Tennessee
BUZZ: Once committed to N.C. State, Leslie is still strongly considering his hometown school along with Kentucky and Florida. Kentucky hosted Leslie on an official visit, while a visit to Florida had to be canceled.
Doron Lamb, 6-4/175, SG, Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy
Lamb Highlights
RANK: No. 21
SCHOOLS IN PLAY: Arizona, Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma
BUZZ: Lamb has already visited Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma and is expected to also visit Arizona before he makes a decision.
Trey Zeigler, 6-4/185, SG, Mount Pleasant (Mich.)
Zeigler Highlights
RANK: No. 26
SCHOOLS IN PLAY: Arizona, Central Michigan, Duke, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma and UCLA
BUZZ: Central Michigan has an in with Zeigler with his father as the coach. UCLA and Oklahoma have hosted him on visits. Duke recently inquired after losing Harrison Barnes. No decision is expected from Zeigler until he knows where his father will be coaching next year.
Roscoe Smith, 6-7/185, SF, Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy
Smith Highlights
RANK: No. 31
SCHOOLS IN PLAY: Connecticut, Duke and Georgetown
BUZZ: Smith has officially visited Connecticut and Georgetown and has unofficially visited Duke. A decision is likely following the Thanksgiving break.
Justin Coleman, 6-4/215, SF, Huntington (W.Va.) Prep
Coleman Highlights
RANK: No. 45
SCHOOLS IN PLAY: Arkansas, Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky, Marquette, Providence and Xavier
BUZZ: The big question for Coleman is his academic standing. If he does qualify academically, Coleman, a strong athlete, will have plenty of options.
Ray McCallum, 6-1/175, PG, Detroit Country Day
McCallum Highlights
RANK: No. 60
SCHOOLS IN PLAY: Arizona, Detroit, Florida, Oklahoma and UCLA
BUZZ: McCallum's father is the coach at Detroit, so he doesn't need to visit that school. McCallum has visited Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma and UCLA.
