The Starting Five

The Starting Five makes its return to PowerMizzou.com. A player's ranking one week has no bearing on his placement on the list the next week. This is our list of the five Tigers who had, in our opinion, the best week in the Tigers' split against Iowa State and Baylor:

The Starting Five
RANK PLAYER THE ANALYSIS LAST WEEK
1 Justin Safford, F In two games in which the Tigers averaged just 64.5 points, Safford led the way with 13 in each game. He added 15 rebounds in a solid two-game stretch. NR
2 J.T. Tiller, G Tiller led the way with a season-high 17 points against Iowa State and was solid, though not spectacular, against Baylor. He has also now made two consecutive three-pointers. 2
3 Laurence Bowers, F Bowers wasn't good in the second half against the Bears, but still averaged 10 poins and 8.5 rebounds in the two games. Especially with Keith Ramsey banged up, the Tigers are going to need even more from Bowers down the stretch. 5
4 Kim English, F As English said, he played more in the layup line than the first half against the Cyclones. But he scored nine second-half points, including the game-icing triple. He had 13 at Baylor, including the play that gave Mizzou its only lead outside of the opening ten seconds. 1
5 Zaire Taylor, G Thanks to illness, Taylor was no factor against the Clones. But he was huge against Baylor with 15 points, including two threes that brought the Tigers back from the brink of extinction in the second half. That Taylor gives the Tigers hope going forward. NR
