Pac-Tending 10-27-10

"The AD's are unanimous about nothing. I doubt if you could get unanimous support on much of anything from the AD's."

- Arizona State president Michael Crow, explaining that the conference's athletic directors were unable to agree on future Pac-12 issues and their input was viewed as merely guidance in last week's conference announcements.

The Creek was alive last week as major announcements were made for the future Pac-12 configuration beginning on July 1, 2011 as conference alignments, revenue sharing models and the site of the football championship game were all confirmed.

Meanwhile, the 2010-11 season continues and the new NCAA RPI rankings are out for both soccer and volleyball with Stanford first in soccer and the Cardinal sixth in volleyball.

Meanwhile, at NCAA HQ, the addition of non-coaching personnel have been proposed for both basketball and football.

Stanford

In women's hoop, the Cardinal were selected as the pre-season favorite by the coaches poll.

Oregon State

In women's soccer, freshman Jenna Richardson was named as the conference's athlete of the week.

Oregon

In football, Oregon remained the top-ranked team in the nation in most polls and travels to USC this week.

USC

In women's soccer, a national record crowd of 8.527 watched USC upset rival UCLA last week.

California

In football, junior quarterback Brock Mansion has moved up to the backup spot at quarterback behind Kevin Riley and ahead of Beau Sweeney.

Arizona State

In football, the Sun Devils expect quarterback Steven Threet - who suffered a concussion last week in ASU's loss to California - to start this Saturday against Wazzu.

UCLA

In football, receiver Ricky Marvray and offensive lineman Sean Sheller were suspended for this week's game against Arizona allegedly due to a positive testing for drugs.

WSU

In volleyball, the Cougars were swept by Arizona and Arizona State but not before taking the Sun Devils to five sets to fall to 6-13 overall and 0-9 in conference play.

In football, the Cougars lost to Stanford, 38-28 to fall to 1-7 overall on the year and 0-5 in conference play.

In soccer, the Cougars were swept by Oregon and Oregon State to move to 1-5 in conference play and 6-11 overall and received a verbal commitment for 2011 from forward Jocelyn Jeffers, a national team pool player from the SC del Sol club in Arizona.

Washington

In football, the Huskies lost to Arizona, 44-14 to fall to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Arizona

In football, the starting quarterback for this week's games against UCLA has not been announced - either Matt Scott or Nick Foles will start.
