Frankie Williams Charity Classic

On Thursday, the 4th Annual Frankie Williams Charity Classic hosted by Frenji Sports came loaded with D1 talent.

Each year the event is held at the Theodore D. Young Community Center in Greenburgh, NY. In a nail biter the Black team would win 106-105

Frenji Sport CEO/President Benjamin Carter spoke with NYCHoops.net about the event. "We are into our 4th year now with the Frankie Williams Charity Classic. The foundation was founded in 2007 and is dedicated to children succeeding in academics, athletics and in life mentoring support. We created the foundation to honor the late Frankie Williams, who inspired young people with his commitment to education and sportsmanship."

Jeff Neverson , Kayvon Stewart, Tavon Sledge, Jermaine Sanders, Ramon Johnson, Shaquille Thomas, Matt Townsend, Peter Aguilar, Luke Houston, Eli Carter and Jermaine White.

Frenji White

Melvin Johnson , Reggie Cameron, P.J. Torres, Kyle Anderson, Dustin Hogue, Emmanuel Andujar, Mike Taylor, Shaquille Stokes, Dashawn Suber, Edson Avila, Corey Edwards, Rudy Collins and Anthony Hemingway

In the All-Star action pack game, the Frenji White squad would capture the lead early with the Frenji Black squad trailing by the end of the half 53-48. Frenji White led at the end of the half with 12 points. Kyle Anderson and Dustin Hogue would add eight points apiece. Black squad Shaquille Thomas and Peter Aguilar finish with 10 points apiece.

In the second half, the Black squad would slowly work their way back into the game after trailing 71-61 points at the 12:07 minute mark. With 4:42 seconds left in the half, Black squad's Luke Houston would hit a trey off the corner making it a six point game, White 96-90. The momentum of the game would change as the Black squad made a comeback.

Matt Townsend would score in the paint with 3:07 left in the half and draw the foul making it a one point game giving the Black squad their first lead of the game 99-98. Anderson would answer back with 39:3 seconds left making it a three point game, Black 103-100. A foul would be called on the White squad, sending Tavon Sledge to the line to score one. The Black squad would foul on the return sending Anderson to the line to score two, making it a two point game 104-102. The White squad would foul again, sending Eli Carter to the line to score two closing out the game, giving the Black squad the win.

Sledge led the Black team with 22 points and won the MVP, followed by 16 points for Carter and 10 points for Aguilar. Anderson was the high scorer for the White team and won the Sportsmanship award with 20 points. Avila added 18 points Hogue and Torres with 12 points.
