Two for Tuesday: UF stars still competing

Leading the frontcourt of the 2011 USA Basketball Men's U19 World Championship Team, Florida Gators sophomore center Patric Young has been playing hot and cold overseas in Latvia for the FIBA U19 World Championship tournament.

Below are the results of the team's games thus far along with Young's stats in the respective contests. He has really come on as of late as a strong presence in the middle for the Americans.

Lithuania U20 def. USA U19 101-72 (Exhibition)
Young: 2/7 for five points with six rebounds in 25 minutes

USA def. Egypt 115-60
Young: 2/4 for five points with eight rebounds in 14 minutes

USA def. Serbia 80-78
Young: 6/6 for 13 points with seven rebounds in 18:30

USA def. Lithuania 107-105 (OT)
Young: 5/7 for 15 points (5/7 from the line) with seven rebounds in 26:24

Young is not the only one representing his country over the summer as future juniors left-handed pitcher Brian Johnson and shortstop Nolan Fontana are competing with the 2011 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.

The United States is currently in the middle of a five-game series against Japan with four games taking place in North Carolina and the series finale being held back at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, NE, the site of the Gators' tough 2011 College World Series Championship Series defeat by the South Carolina Gamecocks.

After his commitment to Team USA is complete in July, Johnson will meet up with 2011 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year Mike Zunino to play in the Cape Cod League, a highly-scouted event that could help the players raise their stock for the 2012 MLB Draft.
