Power rankings: No worries for Weeden

Rivals.com Power Rankings by Position: QB | RB | WR | TE | OL | DL | LB | DB | ST
Coaches Power Rankings: Head Coach | Off. Coordinator | Def. Coordinator

Nobody has been able to stop Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden all season.

Not even Mother Nature.

Weeden threw for 423 yards and five touchdowns amid a swirling wind Saturday as Oklahoma State blew out Texas Tech 66-6 to remain in position for a spot in the BCS championship game. Weeden's latest stellar performance made him the new No. 1 quarterback in the Rivals.com College Football Power Rankings, which measure the nation's top performers at each position.

"The wind was definitely swirling," Weeden told reporters after the game. "The ball, you could definitely tell it got caught up in it. But for the most part, I feel like I threw the ball pretty well in it. The main thing there is you have to keep it tight, keep it a tight swirl and maybe throw it a little harder than normal. For the most part, except for a couple, I was able to do that."

[Huguenin: BCS rankings and analysis]

Weeden has thrown for 3,635 yards with 31 touchdowns and nine interceptions this season. He has thrown 23 touchdown passes and three interceptions in his past seven games. He ranks third nationally with 363.5 passing yards per game.

He takes over the top spot in our quarterback rankings from Stanford's Andrew Luck, who went 27-of-41 for 271 yards with three touchdown passes and three turnovers (two interceptions and a fumble) in a 53-30 loss to Oregon.

In the only other change at the top of the power rankings, USC tackle Matt Kalil has replaced Boise State tackle Nate Potter as our No. 1 offensive lineman.

Kalil, a junior, is rated in a number of mock drafts as the top offensive lineman available next year if he chooses to turn pro. USC's starting offensive line doesn't include a single senior, yet the Trojans have allowed just six sacks. Kalil also has blocked two field goals and two extra points this season.

Boise State gave up two sacks and six tackles for loss Saturday in a 36-35 loss to TCU.

[Rivals.com experts: What we learned in Week 11]

Alabama running back Trent Richardson, Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon, Clemson tight end Dwayne Allen, Illinois defensive end Whitney Mercilus, Boston College linebacker Luke Kuechly, LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne, LSU coach Les Miles, Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris and LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis remained atop their respective positions.

The rankings put a special emphasis on recent performances while also taking career achievements into consideration. Our coordinator rankings exclude coordinators who don't call their own plays or signals. We have removed Penn State's Tom Bradley from our defensive coordinator rankings; his elevation to interim coach led to Penn State naming Larry Johnson and Ron Vanderlinden as co-coordinators.
