Vanderbilt stuns Marquette on the road

Vanderbilt jumped out to a 28-point first half lead and never really allowed Marquette back in the game, as the Commodores got a huge 74-57 road win over the Golden Eagles on Thursday evening at the Bradley Center.

Vanderbilt put four players -- Jeffery Taylor (19 points), John Jenkins (14), Lance Goulbourne (13) and Brad Tinsley (11) - in double figures, and Goulbourne yanked down 16 rebounds for the Commodores (9-4).

The 13th-ranked Eagles missed 18 of their first 20 shots, while VU led 35-8 with 7:24 left in the first half.

Marquette's only lead was 2-0. Jenkins hit a 3-pointer with 13:17 left in the first half to put VU up 14-4, and the Golden Eagles never got within double digits again.

Vanderbilt led 44-22 at the break, and trailed only briefly at 2-0.

Tinsley and Jenkins led VU with 11 points each at the break.
