NY teams flatline at EYBL (Day 2 & 3)
On Sunday, the EYBL Session 4 would continue. While some individual players impressed overall it would be a disappointing showing for New York teams, either forfeiting or losing, ending in the red column.
Here is an overview of team and player performances.
Metro Hawks (NY) would forfeit twice against STL Eagles (MO) and the Georgia Stars.
The Albany City Rocks (NY) would take a loss to their metro area rivals, NJ Playaz Club, 73-65. Sterling Taplin led for City Rocks with 16 points and two assists. Teammates Shadell Millinghaus and Manny Suarez both finished with 11 points apiece.
NY Lightning took a loss to All Ohio Red (OH) 63-52. Jalen David led the way for the Lightning with 13 points. Terrence Samuel would contribute with 10 points.
In Albany City Rocks second game of the day they would get taken out by The Family (MI) 75-54. Millinghaus and Tyler Mcleod both led for City Rocks finishing with 16 points apiece.
NY Lightning would also take a beating in the second round with a loss to Alabama Challenge (AL) 68-50. Jon Severe led for the Lightning squad with 18 points while his teammates would all finish in single digits.
EYBL Session 4 Final
In the last round of EYBL only two New York teams would remain both hanging on by a thread. After this round only 24 teams will advance on to the final round at NIKE Peach Jam.
Peach Jam qualifications are based on overall record, head to head record, strength of schedule, quality wins verses bad losses and point differential.
On the final day of the event Metro Hawks would forfeit again leaving the event with a 1-19 standings.
Albany City Rocks (6-14) fell to Athlete First (OK) 76-69. Millinghaus led all scorers with a game high of 31 points, six assists and one steal. Fellow teammate Suarez finished with 16 points and two assists.
NY Lightning (5-15) missed the mark by one point with a loss to E1T1 (FL) 53-52. Severe and David both led with 16 points apiece. Smith finished with 10 points, six assists, and six steals.
