Vols land California tight end
Inglewood, Calif. tight end/defensive end Chauntez Jackson had been feeling Tennessee for several weeks. Saturday morning, the 6-4, 245 pound standout said it was time to be a Vol.
"Yea, I've been leaning to Tennessee for a while. I talked to the whole staff this morning and I just wanted to make it official."
Jackson, who was evaluated during the open date by Vol assistant Josh Conklin praised Tennessee because of how hard they have recruited him over the last several months.
"They have been on me for a long time. They have stuck with me through the good times and the bad," Jackson offered. "That was one of the main reasons, I committed to them. It always felt like a family when I was talking to them. No other school made that recruited me made me feel like that.
"I like what they have going on there. They are a good team and are heading in the right direction."
Jackson chose the Vols over Washington State, Colorado and Utah. The Inglewood High School product is scheduled to take the ACT the last weekend of October and then will make his official visit to see the Vols sometime in November.
Rivals.com ranks Jackson as a 3-star prospect and the 83rd best player at any position in the state of California.
