Instant Analysis: Gators down the Dawgs

Florida opened Southeastern Conference play with an easy win against one of the league's worst teams Wednesday night. The No. 11 Gators (11-2, 1-0 SEC) defeated the Georgia Bulldogs (6-8, 0-1 SEC) 77-44 at the O'Connell Center. Instant Analysis takes a look at the UF victory.

IT WAS OVER WHEN: The Gators wasted no time establishing their dominance at both ends of the court. Georgia took two timeouts within the first four minutes of the game and quickly trailed 11-0 spearheaded by six Casey Prather points. The Bulldogs would get no closer to seven points and spend most of the rest of the game down by double digits.

HE STOLE THE SHOW: Prather started fast, cooled down and then came on big late once again for the Gators in his first start of the season. Displaying his trademark athleticism, Prather finished with 10 points, 7 rebounds and three steals.

THE STAT DOESN'T LIE: Georgia was its own worst enemy most of the night, giving Florida opportunity after opportunity to make the game a laugher. The Bulldogs had 19 turnovers, including 6 from sophomore forward Nemanja Djurisic.

OH WHAT A PLAY: Kenny Boynton has been criticized at times during his UF career for not following up plays after a missed 3-pointer. That wasn't the case in the second half. Boynton missed a deep ball that Prather brought down and dished back out to Boynton, who drove hard to the basket and pulled off an acrobatic reverse layup to put the Gators up by 17.

THIS MATCHUP PROVED KEY: It was hardly Mike Rosario's most efficient or balanced night but that didn't mean the Bulldogs had an answer for his offense. Rosario finished with 19 points and the Gators ran the perimeter as a hole, taking 16 more 3-point shots than Georgia.
