Four-star commits to Florida

Those following the Florida Gators football program knew that Monday was potentially going to be a huge day on the recruiting front. The day started off with a bang when Plantation (Fla.) four-star cornerback Chris Lammons kicked off the good news when he made his commitment to the Gators on national TV.

"For the next four years I will be attending the University of Florida," said Lammons, while putting on a Florida Gators cap during Monday afternoon's ESPNU broadcast.

Lammons chose the Gators over finalists Tennessee, South Carolina and Miami. In the end it was Lammons relationship with UF coaching staff, notably defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson that won him over.

"Great coaching, great facilities and that is somewhere I feel comfortable," said Lammons.

The 5-foot-9, 168-pounder is a two way player for his high school team, seeing some time as a wildcat quarterback. While he isn't expected to contribute on offense for the Gators, according to Lammons he does anticipate seeing the field as a cornerback and on special teams as well.

"I want to play corner, kick return, and punt return," said the four star. "They suggested the same thing so it's like everything that I want to do."
