Instant Analysis: Gators gut out another road win

The Southeastern Conference's longest - and most surprising - home winning streak in conference play came to an end Thursday night. No. 6 Florida (16-2, 5-0 SEC) defeated Alabama (8-10, 2-3 SEC) 68-62, the Crimson Tide's first conference loss at home since Feb. 14, 2012 against Florida. Instant Analysis takes a look.

IT WAS OVER WHEN: With the Gators up six and 16 seconds remaining in the game, Michael Frazier II was fouled before going to the line and making both shots. Another Florida conference victory was in the bag.

HE STOLE THE SHOW: For better or worse, the game was going to belong to sophomore guard Frazier II. Billy Donovan told him during shootaround to shoot every time the opportunity presented itself against Alabama's 2-3 zone defense. He listened. Frazier attempted a season-high 13 3-point shots and made five of them to lead the Gators in scoring with 18 points.

THE STAT DOESN'T LIE: Frazier wasn't the only Gator letting it rip from deep. For the second time in three games, Florida made double-digit 3-point shots while taking a season-high 28 shots from beyond the arc. The Gators' previous season-high was 26. Florida shot 35.7 percent on the evening. Scottie Wilbekin (2 of 7), Dorian Finney-Smith (1 of 4) and Frazier, all attempted at least three shots from the 3-point line.

WHAT A PLAY: Casey Prather was blocked by 7-foot-1 Alabama center Carl Engstrom in the first half and was looking for a little retribution late in the game. With Trevor Releford breaking in for what looked to be an easy layup, Prather sprinted the length of the floor to make a big-time block seemingly out of nowhere. Prather finished with 14 points, six rebounds and three blocks.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Credit Finney-Smith and Will Yeguete for handling the less-flashy aspects of Florida's 10th consecutive win. Florida's two forwards and best rebounders combined for 22 rebounds and 12 points against the Crimson Tide. The Gators were able to get timely rebounds throughout the night (42-39) but struggled with second-chance points. Florida was 13 of 33 from inside the 3-point line.

UP NEXT: Florida hosts Tennessee (12-6, 3-2 SEC) Saturday at 4 p.m.
