Gators shut out of NBA Draft

Florida's best regular season in school history and best NCAA Tournament run since back-to-back national championships came without a single player the National Basketball Association felt warranted a draft pick in 2014. The NBA Draft came and went Thursday night without a single Gator selected, the first time that has happened since 2010.

Most notably, that means Patric Young went undrafted. Young, a 6-foot-9 center who started 47 games in his UF career, was a staple on mock draft boards and was expected to at least go in the second round if not sneak into the end of the first.

Teams that had rumored interest in Young instead went for available foreign talent late in the draft. Scottie Wilbekin and Casey Prather were Florida's other draft-worthy prospects who did not hear their names called.

Florida went 36-3 during the 2013-2014 season, going 21-0 in SEC play and winning 30 straight games before losing in the national semifinals. Coach Billy Donovan was commended throughout the season for achieving success without an obvious NBA prospect on his team.

Young, Wilbekin and Prather, must now all wait for free agent opportunities.
