A fearsome foursome

OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. - Friday Rivals.com traveled to the Memphis suburbs on the Mississippi side to check out the fabulous foursome at Olive Branch. It's hard to believe that so many prospects from one school in the Magnolia State have the number of offers that each of them does, but believe it.

Wide receiver Allen Walker is the highest ranked prospects for the Conquistadors and he certainly looked the part at the 90-minute inter-squad scrimmage on Friday. The thing that stands out most about Walker is his thickness. Walker almost looks like a running back or strong safety, but has the speed and agility of a wide receiver.

Anthony Summers plays quarterback for Olive Branch and at times had trouble finding his favorite target in Walker. Summers is a lock to change positions in college and the likely destination appears to be safety. He has a tall, lean frame and is extremely athletic.

There were times when Summers would tuck the ball and run and showed his athletic ability. He showed good speed and great quickness. He has very flexible hips and will translate well to safety on the next level.

Wide receiver Markeith Summers did not participate in Friday's practice as he was nursing a hamstring injury. He is a tall, rangy wide receiver who has the frame to put on weight. He's going to be a good deep threat for quarterbacks and a tough assignment for defensive backs over the next four years.

Defensive tackle Victor Thomas may be the steal of the bunch. He may be the fourth ranked prospect of the group, but that could very well change after seeing him in person.

Thomas is probably the most physically ready to go of the bunch outside of Walker and is a massive kid who carries his frame well. He is very agile and explodes off the ball, punishing the offensive lineman. There were several times in practice where the coaches had to tell him to ease off because no one could block him.

There are two other prospects in the class of 2006 for the Conquistadors.

Cornerback Jon Cook is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound athlete who runs very well and is very physically impressive. He has already picked up offers from Southern Miss and Memphis and is hearing from a host of other schools.

Linebacker Jeremy Longstreet is a well put together kid, who moves very well and has a great frame. He simply needs to get more aggressive and make better reads and he could be reeling in the offers as well.

The most impressive performance of the day did not come from any prospect that is on the recruiting radar. Wide receiver Eric Cash is a 5-foot-11, 185-pounder who caught everything in sight. This fall Summers and Walker will be the tall wide receivers and will likely draw double teams.

Cash plays in the slot and is super quick and has a ridiculous vertical jump. Look for Cash to rack up big stats this fall and catch the attention of college coaches.

There are two prospects to watch for the class of 2007 as well. The top prospect is defensive end K.J. Wright who did not play much as a sophomore. He is a 6-foot-5, 210-pound end with a great frame to grow and put on weight. He is the prototypical Southern defensive end that coaches like to sign, red-shirt, add weight to and turn into a star on the college level.

Linebacker Demantise Hill is extremely quick to the point of attack and is a very impressive physical specimen. He's going to really catch the attention of college coaches this fall who come to check out all of the 2006 prospects on the team. He's 6-foot, 210 pounds and has great instincts. He also fights through blocks very well.
