Five on the rise

The NIKE Training Camps are winding down but there are several prospects around the nation finding their stock is on the rise as a result of their performances at the events. In this week's edition of Five on the Rise, we take a look at some more prospects who are really coming on in the class of 2007.

Included this week are a couple prospects emerging from the shadows of talented teammates as well as prospects who made an impact at the NIKE Camps in Georgia, Texas and California.

Stanley Hunter, Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes
Position: Linebacker
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 205 pounds
Willy Korn isn't the only highly-regarded prospect at Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes in the class of 2007. Outside linebacker prospect Stanley Hunter uses his speed and tenacity as a pass-rushing defensive end for the Rebels, but is expected to make the transition to linebacker at the next level. The 5-foot-11, 205-pounder recently picked up scholarship offers from Virginia Tech and South Carolina and Florida State has been showing heavy interest. Those three schools join Clemson and North Carolina, both of which had previously offered. JC Shurburtt

Anthony Morgan, Lancaster (Texas)
Position: Offensive guard
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 336 pounds
Lancaster (Texas) offensive guard Anthony Morgan went from a solid player in North Texas, to one of the more heavily recruited prospects in the state. Scholarship offers have flooded in from the likes of Alabama, Florida, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, and LSU. Though he seemed close to an LSU commitment, he's now sitting back and waiting on schools like Miami, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma who could possibly be offering at any time. His 6-foot-4, 336-pound frame should give him the choice to pick almost any school in the country. His top performance at the NIKE Training Camp in College Station also helped. John Talman

Harrison Smith, Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic
Position: Athlete/Safety
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 205 pounds
After an impressive showing at the Athens NIKE Camp on April 29, Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic athlete Harrison Smith has seen his value rise. Already one of the most heavily-recruited prospects in Eastern Tennessee, the 6-foot-1 1/2, 201-pounder picked up scholarship offers from Notre Dame and Arkansas after running a camp-high 4.38-second 40-yard dash in Athens. Smith could play a variety of positions at the next level, including safety, linebacker and running back. Most believe he will eventually find a home as a safety. JC Shurburtt

Romale Tucker, Washington (D.C.) Coolidge
Position: Linebacker
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 203 pounds
Washington (D.C.) Coolidge linebacker Romale Tucker has begun to blow up a bit. Overshadowed by teammates Marvin Austin and Lamar Milstead, Tucker has impressed at recent combines. His size and long arms are ideal for an outside linebacker and he can run. Syracuse was the first to offer and was followed by North Carolina, Virginia and Akron with schools like Tennessee watching closely. Tucker had 15 sacks as a junior and is an excellent pass rusher for a linebacker. Mike Farrell

Todd Huber, Palos Verdes Estates (Calif.) Peninsula
Position: Offensive line
Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 275 pounds
His brother was a high school All-American and played with Carson Palmer at USC. He didn't have any scholarship offers heading into the weekend. But by the time he was done on Sunday, he had been named the MVP to the Palo Alto NIKE Camp and picked up his first offer from Stanford. The he in question is Palos Verdes Estates (Calif.) Peninsula offensive lineman Todd Huber. Nobody is hotter than Huber in California and look for his name to move up the charts with a ton of college coaches. Jeremy Crabtree
